Mental Health Practitioner: Sponsorship Available

The Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is currently seeking a dedicated Mental Health Practitioner to join their Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Neurodevelopmental Conditions Service in Oxford, Oxfordshire. This full-time position offers a salary ranging from £29,970 to £36,483 per year. Notably, the Trust is open to considering applications from candidates requiring a Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Caseload Management: Oversee a caseload of young individuals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and support tailored to their unique needs.
  • Care Pathway Development: Design and implement effective care pathways, directing young people to appropriate mental health services.
  • Assessment and Intervention: Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide interventions for children and adolescents experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges.
  • Urgent Case Response: Support the duty clinician by responding promptly to urgent cases as they arise.
  • Consultation and Training: Offer consultation, advice, training, and support to partner agencies and colleagues within the multidisciplinary team.

Main Duties:

The appointed Band 5 clinician will be responsible for developing and delivering high-standard assessments and treatments for referred patients. This includes managing an agreed clinical caseload and ensuring continuity of care through effective coordination. In collaboration with patients, carers, and clinical teams, the clinician will assess and provide evidence-based treatment programs and discharge plans, utilizing the Care Programme Approach (CPA) to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care. The role also involves planning and providing appropriate therapy services, using evidence-based practices, while adhering to defined resources. Regular review and evaluation of treatment programs will be conducted in conjunction with patients, carers, and clinical team members to ensure the effectiveness of the care provided. The clinician will actively participate in clinical meetings, case conferences, and CPA meetings, facilitating the smooth transition of patients through various stages of their care, including care planning and therapy programs. Additionally, they will be responsible for compiling written reports as required and ensuring that patient documentation is accurate and up to date.

Person Specification:

  • Knowledge:
    • Essential: Ability to manage a caseload and act as a care coordinator for clients.
    • Desirable: Professional knowledge acquired through a degree or diploma.
  • Qualifications:
    • Essential: Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Registered Nurse with an additional Mental Health Qualification; or Occupational Therapist with HCPC Registration; or Social Worker with HCPC registration.
    • Desirable: Ability to contribute to the audit process.
  • Experience:
    • Essential: Experience working within a mental health setting.
    • Desirable: Experience working with children and young people who have serious mental illnesses, along with their families and carers, in the community.

This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. Therefore, a submission for Disclosure will be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
